Dr Peter Tobin
Peter has over 40 years of business and management experience across a number of
different industries and in a wide range of roles - as a practitioner, consultant, researcher,
conference speaker, coach and expert trainer. He has extensive experience in the fields of
Cyber Security, Managed IT Security Services, Information Management, IT Governance and
Management, Data Privacy and the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, and the
European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).
Since 2014 Peter has been a consultant providing services
focused on how to improve organisations’ cyber security and
managed IT security services as part of multiple data privacy
and protection projects. These services are largely provided to
companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and
large state-owned enterprises within the African and European continents. Peter’s
consultancy and training services include the use of the following frameworks and standards:

Dr Tobin is frequently invited as a guest speaker at SA and international conferences, and has acted as the conference chair, meeting facilitator and keynote speaker on numerous occasions. During the past two decades he has facilitated in excess of 100 workshops and courses in the fields of IT Governance and Management, Cyber Security, and Protection of Personal Information. These workshops and courses are regularly held in South Africa, Botswana, DRC, Zimbabwe, Germany, Dubai, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Lesotho, Zambia, Mauritius, Namibia and Nigeria. The clientele benefited includes banks, insurance houses, pension funds, state-owned companies, municipalities, government agencies, authorities and national departments.
